JRE Group of Institutions, Educomp Foundation launch Computer Literacy Programme in Jaitpur

he JRE Group of Institutions, in collaboration with Educomp Foundation launched a computer literacy programme at Jaitpur village. This Computer Literacy Programme is an extension of the on-going literacy drive at Prathmic Vidyalaya, Jaitpur.

This Computer Literacy programme aims at bringing students in Jaitpur at par with their peers from cities by providing them necessary exposure to computers. These classes will work towards teaching the students the basics of computers.

To begin with, a system has been installed at the house of the Gram Pradhan. To cover the length and breadth of the village, a local person has been identified as the project leader. The Social Responsibility team comprising of JRE teachers and students will be training the project leader along with the interested students. The students will be divided into three batches of around fifteen students each and each batch will have a healthy student-teacher ratio of 1:5. JRE students will be carrying their laptops with them to ensure that students from the village learn not just the theory but are also able to use computers confidently.

Prof. Stephen Rawlinson, Academic President- JRE Group of Institutions; Manoj Gupta, Software Engineer & Social Activist and Pramod Kumar, Gram Pradhan inaugurated the programme by cutting the ribbon. Gracing the occasion as Chief Guests were Manoj Gupta, Former Senior Engineer, Wipro; Dr. K.V. Rao, Dean JRE-SOE; Maj. Gen. R.N. Tikku, Senior Advisor, JRE and Dr. Sushi Singh, Senior Consultant, Educomp Foundation. Chief Guests encouraged the students to make the most of these classes and lauded the students of JRE for doing their bit for a noble cause.

Talking about the programme, Harpreet Singh, President- JRE Group of Institutions, said, “Through this computer literacy drive, we at JRE are not only implementing a social responsibility but also opening up avenues for local students here by getting to them the best possible resources and faculty. The IT and ITES (Information Technology Enabled Services) sector in India has been growing at a remarkable pace and has been the most consistent growth driver for India’s economy and knowledge of basic computer functions is crucial for every field today. This programme will prepare the students of Jaitpur better for their future careers.”
