Foundation stone laid for Doon Medical College at Dehradun

Foundation stone of Doon Medical College at Dehradun was laid on 30th October by the Union Health & Family Welfare Minister. The Uttarakhand Goverment had planned to open a government medical college in Dehradun for that they want to convert the famous government hospital in Dehradun ie ”Doon Hospital” in to the Doon Medical College.

The Government had already sent the proposal to MCI (Medical Council of India) on that request the MCI team visited the capital to explore the possibilities of opening the medical college. The MCI team consist of MCI inspector Dr Ramprakash, Dr Shergill and Dr Vinita Jain visited the Doon Hospital on Wednesday 9th December 2009 to inspect the present infrastructure of the hospital.

The Higher Education Secretary Dr Rakesh Kumar, Director of Doon Hospital, Women Hospital and Coronation Hospital, and CMS Dr R K Pant provide all the details to the MCI team. The MCI team also inspected the Coronation Hospital, Gandhi Shatabdi Hospital and the land of old Jail at haridwar Road Dehradun.



After inspecting all the places they found that the infrastracture are satisfying the norm of minimum 25 Acres land for a Medical College by MCI.
