Special Educators required in National Capital Territory of Delhi

Govt. of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Delhi, Gurgaon and NOIDA), Directorate of Education has advertised for Special Education Teachers in schools. The candidates need not be qualifying of CTET. Under the U.E.E. Mission of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) has invited 300 Special Education Teachers.

As per Right to Education (RTE) all the schools in India, including Public and Private should have the vacancies of the Special Education Teachers. India has limited number of such trained teachers. The Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) has about 45,000 registered professionals and personnel in their all Indian Central Rehabilitation Register. Delhi region has about 700 Special Educators is registered with RCI.

As per Delhi high court, at least two special educators be appointed per school within the NCR. With approximately 3,000 schools, 6,000 special educators will be required. On an estimate, India requires 2.5 lakhs Special Educators.

The Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) under the Department of Disability Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India is a Statutory Body to train special teachers. RCI conducts All India Aptitude Test for the admission into Diploma in Education (Special Education) courses in different disability domain like Mental Retardation, Visual Impairments, Hearing Impairments, Autism, Cerebral Palsy and others. Candidates require Intermediate (10+2) qualification. There are B.Ed., M.Ed. in Special Education and further educational up gradation opportunities available in this career.



In 2013-14 450 institutions are said to be running Diploma level course in Special Education. With each institute having an average of 20 seats, they can train about 9000 candidates.
