Rockwell International School, Hyd, to revive the lost bond of Guru Shishya

The Guru-Shishya parampara is sacred and signifies the eternal bond between a teacher and a student. City’s Rockwell International School that believes in nurturing every child’s potential is to revive this long ignored tradition. And plans to honour K. Ramachary, Singer, Music Composer, Music Teacher and M. Pradeep Kuamr(Deepu), Playback Singer his Sishya here in a School Annul Day Function on 14th December at Shilpakala Vedika, Madhapur.

The teacher-student relationship is a revered one the world over. We have many examples of this Parampara in our ancient as well as contemporary tradition. So we have some famous examples of the same Srirama – Vasishta Maharshi –Srirama, Parusuram—Karna; Dhronacharya—Ekalavya; Achrekar–Sachin Tendulkar; SM Arif- Gopichandl Gopichand–Saina Nehawal, PV Sindhu etc.

The Master Disciple Tradition which is very special to this country is forgotten long ago. In these modern days, the relationship between teacher and student is questionable. There is no purity, love and respect among them. Both act like professionals. Both don’t care about each other. In this situation, student may get knowledge for living, but the character building of him will not happen. This is definitely not a good situation. The solution to fix this situation is to revive the relationship between teacher and student informed Ms. Manija Subrahmaniam, Principal of the Schoolwho has been recipient “Guru Praveen” Award by Central Govt also honored by Governor of Andhra Pradesh for her contribution in serving the students fraternity.

Rockwell International School revived and first started this tradition two years back and honoured All England Badminton Champion Padma Sri Pullela Gopichand and P.V. Sindu, National Badminton Players with Guru Shishya Award. Last year to Padmashri Dr. Sobha Naidu, Principal, Kuchipudi Art Academy and her Shishya Ms. Usha Vinod, Kuchipudi Dancer & Teacher were honoured.

The award is a tribute to an everlasting bond between a mentor and his / her student. Though it is old tradition, we want to make this tradition of Guru-Shishya live by presenting award to the most deserving and inspiring Guru-Shishya duo in different fields every year, informed Mr. Subash Boda, young Chairman and Managing Director of Rockwell International School.

This initiative is a tribute to a special bond that inspires greatness, bridges two generations and takes knowledge to greater heights. The Guru Shishya Award is aimed at reinstating this sacred relationship in the consciousness of modern society to keep this eternal tradition alive for generations to come, said Mr. Subash Boda.
